This organ has very recently been destroyed when the United Church building was sold to property developers to create a number of residential properties. There was a short stay of execution for the organ whilst the new owners of the building had a number of plans rejected by the local building control, but is now in a sadly unusable and partly dismantled state (at the time of writing).
Sweetland was a local organ builder, producing tonally rich fairly typical English parish church style instruments. As elements of this instrument were unplayable, considerable detective work was required to track down identical or very closely similar ranks from other local organs. Fortunately, a reasonable body of work from Sweetland exists locally around the South West of England from which made reconstruction possible. The vast majority of the Sweetland organs remain very local to the South West of England, specifically around Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and Wiltshire, and whilst a few examples did escape to counties further away, almost all of the remaining playable instruments seem to exist within a short distance of Bath.
This organ latterly was fitted with a modern console of the Kimber Allen style, however whilst they may be arguably more practical, they are not the prettiest consoles to look at. We eventually found some old photographs of an identical Sweetland console from another church which used the more traditional pull stops instead of the electric tab stops found on the console at the time the building was finally closed.
It is incredibly sad that this organ could not find a new home before the building was sold by the church as it was in good playable condition, had fairly recently had some renovation works and was an extremely fine example of Sweetland's work.
Pipe organs were designed to sound their best in the acoustic space for which they were built.
We have taken great care so that the samples and acoustic model for this organ reproduce the instrument as faithfully as possible.
It is down to you, the user, to adjust the EQ and reverb settings to get the best out of your own sound system, and we strongly recommend taking some time to adjust this organ to your current speaker and amplification setup.
Great Organ is working towards some video tutorials on how to get the best from your sound system and how to use the various features in the software.

This company is run and operated by volunteers, who take no salary or drawings of any kind.
Donations and small charges for some sample sets, allow us to continue to maintain this software, provide equipment and helps cover the costs of new sample set production. Sample sets can be quite expensive to produce in terms of time, money and patience, however we keep these costs to a minimum so that as much as possible from proceeds is available to be donated to the recipient organ fund.
Naturally, we also ensure a large proportion of the proceeds from sample sets, goes back to support that organ. In some cases this is 100% of the proceeds.
All surplus proceeds will be split equally between all organ funds we are currently supporting, on an annual basis
