This sample set was created by Augustine's Digital Organs, with additional work on the disposition for Great Organ by the Great Organ team.
Three manuals. 5 divisions. 34 stops. 49 registers. 41 ranks. 2682 pipes. Manual compass is 61 notes. Pedal compass is 32 notes.
The organ is in side chambers at the front of the room, with visible façade pipes or case front. Traditional style console with roll top. The console is in a fixed position, right. Drawknobs in vertical rows on angled jambs. Balanced swell shoes/pedals. Combination Action: Computerized/Digital system. AGO Standard (concave radiating) pedalboard. Crescendo Pedal. Reversible full organ/tutti thumb piston. Reversible full organ/tutti toe stud. Combination action thumb pistons. Combination action toe studs. Coupler reversible thumb pistons. Coupler reversible toe studs.
The organ was restored in 2007 by A. Thompson-Allen Company. The Vox humana rank (originally prepared for) was added during the restoration. Setter board combination action was disconnected, though left in place for historical purposes, and replaced by a multi-level digital combination action. Other than the Vox Humana and new combination action, the organ is as it was originally installed. The organ has a nine-rank floating Positiv division playable on the Swell, Great, and Choir manuals.
This was a somewhat unusual installation, what with the Rohrbordun, Erzähler and Bombarde at home in the Pedal and duplexed to the manuals instead of vice versa. Aeolian-Skinner made it very plain in their stop list presentation in the April 1959 The Diapason that "the organ was designed by H. Leroy Baumgartner, organist and choirmaster of the church, associate professor of the theory of music at Yale University and noted composer. Professor Baumgartner spent several years developing the scheme for this instrument and provided detailed instructions for its construction, which included drawings specifying the placement of the controls of the console.”
Due to declining membership, the church held its last service September 2, 2018, and closed. The organ was sold and will be used in a new installation.
If you enjoy using this organ, please donate to Augustine's Virtual Organs. Free sample sets cost time and money to produce, as well as to continue supporting and hosting. All donations are always appreciated to help continue providing organs this freely.
24 Bit Stereo and 5.1 surround sound (Studio Quality).
